SPECIAL NON-SLIP COATING for moving walkways and escalators
Non-Slip Walkway
Technical information
Moving walkways (travelators) are very safe means of transport, but their tread surfaces may become slippery. Insurance companies pay considerable amounts of accident benefits for travelator accidents.
In wet and rainy weather, when people’s shoes become wet, they may slip easily on metal surfaces. In such cases, it is usual that travelators running from car-parks have to be stopped or covered with carpets. The carpet may become deformed, crumpled and creased, which makes the travelator even less safe.
To make the tread surface of moving walkways safer in all weather conditions and to reduce insurance payments, our non-slip coating presents the perfect solution.
We apply a special long-lasting non-slip layer 1.2-1.3 mm thick on the tread surfaces, as well as on the entry/exit landing platforms. To fix this covering to the surfaces of the travelator, we use a special process called cold vulcanisation.
The advantages of this coating are:
Existing metal plates can also be covered with our non-slip coating by using the cold vulcanisation process. This new layer will in no way affect the operation of the travelator.
The colour of the non-slip coating is grey, just like that of the tread surface of the travelator.
It is easy to clean.
The non-slip layer is made of a special non-toxic material that is also resistant to fire, oil, acids and ozone. This non-slip coating is usually applied to the travelators at night, while they are out of service.
The application process requires 5-7 hours, and then a drying period of 6-8 hours is necessary for safe use.
Our company offers a two-year warranty for the applied non-slip coating provided that it is subject to normal use.
The expected lifetime of the non-slip layer is 2-5 years, depending on the extent of use.
